Due to the impossibility of continuing the archaeological research in Yemen because of the conflict in the country, in 2015 and 2017, the Italian Mission obtained a small funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (DG for the Country Promotion), in order to carry out archaeological research in Ethiopia, at Wakarida (in the Tigray Region,) in collaboration with the Franco-Ethiopian Archaeological Mission, directed by Iwona Gajda [Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS, Paris and Lyon), Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage (ARCCH, Addis Ababa), Bureau of Culture and Tourism of the Regional State of Tigray (BCTRST / Wukro)].
